New Feature: Lesbian Reader's Guides

Lesbian travel 2 Who is this woman, and what's gay about the city or town she lives in?  Wouldn't you be curious to find out?  I sure would...

Our new Reader's Guide's are catching on, and it's no wonder -- whether you realize it or not, you're likely living a gay life that thousands of others would find interesting.

For instance -- Beth may think her daily routine in Atlanta, Georgia is downright dull, while Jenny may think the lesbian nightlife in her hometown of Omaha pales in comparison to dyke clubs in the "gay mecca" of San Francisco.

Romantic Getaways For Her

Romantic3 When it's time to treat that extra-special someone in your life to a wild weekend or to mark a meaningful moment with a big trip, contemplate these spectacular destinations -- Boston; Santa Fe; Bethlehem, N.H.; Vancouver, British Columbia and Tuscany, Italy.

From thrilling cities teeming with dreamy places to dine, dawdle, indulge and delight in each other, to a women-only weekend wonderland, if you've got love and lust coming up on your calendar, these are the directions to travel in.

A Suite of Tempting Hotel Deals for Women

Womenssuites250 After millennia of men-only golf clubs, gentlemen's clubs, and other assorted boys' zones, the travel world finally realized there was a big hole on women's travel, and started offering a sumptuous slew of options specifically designed for women.

Recognizing that nearly 70 percent of all travel decisions made in the United States are by women, convention bureaus, tour operators and hotel companies have discovered their feminine sides and are trying to entice women away for the weekend.

Girl In The City: SF's Mission District

Womentravel250 San Francisco's queer visitors often flock to the famed Castro neighborhood, often mistaking the city's vibrant lesbian district, the Mission, as more of a residential enclave than a genuine attraction. In fact, there's plenty to see and do here.

Like all of San Francisco's most engaging neighborhoods, the Mission is blessed with a trinity of diversions: cool shopping, outstanding dining, and spicy people-watching. With these activities in mind, meander along the neighborhood's main commercial drags, Mission and Valencia streets. You'll find cheap and tasty ethnic cuisine, left-leaning and lesbian-oriented shops and galleries, and some of the city's queer and women's performance spaces mixed in among the many Latin American and Chinese groceries and dry-goods stores. And you'll see plenty of cute dykes!

Lesbian Nightlife: Let's Get Together!

Women-laughing As a lesbian in the gayest city in the world, you’d think going out and enjoying the San Francisco nightlife would be a no-brainer. Well, think again.

My friends and I find ourselves having the same conversation every weekend: where should we go? Do we really feel like dealing with the crowds at the gallery? Is that hot bartender even still working there?

If we’re having that conversation in SF, I imagine many of you might be having the same one where you live...

So here at PlanetOut and Gay.com, we are going to do something about it.  And by we, I mean all of us - you AND me. We want to know what's going on in YOUR city; where are the hottest girls, are the drinks good, what's the vibe really like? Does "gay-friendly" mean "lesbian-friendly", and can you smoke?
