TIME LINE: From Stonewall Through the Seventies
Beginning with the explosion at Stonewall, the modern g/l/b/t movement developed a sense of itself
and a strategy for attaining liberation, often in reaction to the attacks against it.
Time Line retraces that road by looking at some of the landmark events in that
struggle.
In Part 1, hear from some of
the veterans of the Stonewall Rebellion and relive the trauma of the Orange Tuesday!
In Part 2, there were
referendum wins and losses in big and little locales, lesbian feminists at International Women's
Year and a guy named Milk was elected in San Francisco.
In Part 3, Harvey Milk
is assassinated, but an idea he got from a Robin Tyler joke came to life.
In Part 4, what happened after
the Dan White verdict was a real riot, and part of the reason gays and lesbians boarded the
Freedom Train.
In the concluding part of this
5-part documentary produced by This Way Out's Greg Gordon, the l/g/b/t movement marches
on the U.S. capital and into the 80s, and fights back against the distorted portrayal of its
gains in CBS' Gay Power, Gay Politics
