Sooper Dooper Source List

Do gay people move more than straight people? Who can say? Every effort has been made to obtain current addresses, phone and fax numbers (and some e-mail addresses and website links) for all of the distributors, and film and video makers whose works are described in this website. Please do send updates, corrections, and address changes to:

All of these individual distributor listings include name, address, phone, fax, and e-mail. Wherever possible we have also provided links, for those distributors with active websites.

The source information currently available is for U.S. and U.K. distributors. I have tried to list both distribution sources if there are separate distributors; if only a U.S. (or U.K.) source is listed, please contact that source to find out about distribution information for other territories. Plans are currently underway to obtain source information for other territories as well. In some cases, the U.K. home video (sell-thru) source is listed when there is no U.K. nontheatrical distributor.

Consumers looking for titles available for individual purchase or rental should contact a home video company (see the Directory of Home Video Distributors) rather than contacting the educational/non-theatrical distributors listed here which are primarily sources for public exhibition (i.e. film festivals, colleges, community groups, museums).

While I was pleasantly surprised at the percentage of success I had in tracking down current distribution information, there were many titles where a disconnected phone number or "return to sender" label left no other tracking options and it was necessary to list the title as "n/a" (source "not available").

In the case of several feature films, I ran up against complicated questions around rights-holders, companies who have rights but no actual film prints, and companies that no longer exist. Sadly, some of the most interesting and historically significant films fall into these categories.

Programmers, please also see the How To Program Your Own Film & Video Festival section for more information.
