Cheryl Dunye, director of last year's popular lesbian feature,
The Watermelon Woman
(widely heralded as the first African-American lesbian feature in history) gave birth to a healthy,
four pound baby girl, Simone Irene Dunye, this past Sunday, March 8th at 8:55 a.m.
Mother and baby are doing fine, according to Dunye's girlfriend,
Watermelon Woman producer Alex Juhasz. Dunye quickly added that her new daughter is
a Pisces, "just like my girlfriend, Alex."
While Jodie Foster recently announced her pregnancy but refused to comment on, "the father, the
method or anything of that nature," Juhasz explained that Simone's "bio-Dad" is an old friend of the
couple's, San Francisco-based artist Robert Sciasci.
