Kicking off the Millennium March on Washington weekend, Montage Events will present a Broadway-themed gala national dinner on Friday, April 28, at the International Trade Center.
The Millennium March on Washington for Equality's gala national dinner is being co-chaired by two co-chairs of the Millennium March board of directors, Nicole Murray Ramirez and Donna Red Wing. Charles Nelson Reilly and Rita Moreno will serve as co-masters of ceremonies for the Millennium Awards, which will honor Sir Elton John, Tim Gill, Jehan Agrama, Ellen DeGeneres and Anne Heche, and Jose Saria.
The MMOW gala dinner will feature "A Tribute To Jerry Herman," whose legacy of great American Broadway musicals, includes "Hello Dolly," "Mame," and "La Cage Aux Folles." Featured performers and guests for the tribute include Rita Moreno, Leslie Uggams, Carol Channing, Billy Porter, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, members of the California Ballet Company, the 120-voice Washington DC Gay Men's Choruses, Ryan Lowe, Lisa Dyson, Andy Anderson, Ric Henry and Eileen Bowman, the Los Angeles-based Entertainment Plus Dancers, the Todd Schroeder Orchestra and Singers, and Jerry Herman. The Herman tribute is being staged and directed by Rob Appel, with musical direction by Todd Schroeder, and choreography by Doug Johnson.
With a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Millennium March on Washington, the gala dinner will kick off a series of other affiliated events being produced by Montage Events. Tickets for the gala dinner are $250-$500, with some VIP seats available. Since all events have limited capacity, potential dinner attendees are urged to buy tickets early though the website at www.montageevents.com, or by calling the national ticket sales office at 1-800-792-5919.
