93210428
Controversy erupted between hard-core Adam Lambert fans and Out magazine’s editor in chief, Aaron Hicklin, after the behind-the-scenes comments and requests of his management during Lambert's interview for the Out 100 inspired Hicklin to pen an open letter to the American Idol runner-up.

In the letter Hicklin notes the curious heterosexual overtones in Lambert's Details magazine feature and pictorial. He labels Lambert "a pioneer, an out gay pop idol at the start of his career. Someone has to be first, and we’re all counting on you not to mess this up."

84203026
Cover Girl Ellen DeGeneres has it all. The award-winning, out talk show host celebrated her appearance alongside media legend Oprah on the cover of Oprah's O magazine this month by appearing on the Harpo queen's daytime show.

DeGeneres was joined by her wife, out actress Portia de Rossi, for the interview. The married couple expressed their doubtless devotion to one another, with DeGeneres saying she was certain she'd be with De Rossi “until the day I die.” The two gifted comedic actresses met and began dating in 2004. They were wed in a lavish, romantic ceremony in the summer of 2008, before voters passed Proposition 8, ending marriage equality in California.

Their marriage was celebrated with a popular People magazine cover spread.

An inspirational and trailblazing icon in the LGBT community, DeGeneres spoke about the great importance of having their union legally defined as a "marriage."

"The thing about being a gay couple is that in the past you referred to your wife and there was quotation marks around it. There was always that chance that people would kind of snicker about it," De Rossi said. "Now it's fact. It's law. She's my wife. I get to say that she's my wife, and that's just the way it is."

Rumer Willis' Legit Lesbian Romance on “90210”

91135184 How many times has a hot young straight female character on a nighttime soap suddenly crushed on and subsequently kissed another hot girl ... just in time for sweeps?

These carefully orchestrated sexual exploitations have very little to do with LGBTQ representation in the media and everything to do with girl-on-girl titillation aimed at heterosexual males.

The CW, a network built largely on teen melodrama, has used this very tactic in the past and even implemented a new twist, courting Gossip Girl's gay fans with a hotly hyped kiss between pretty-boy lead Ed Westwick and a male character. But according to show insiders, the lesbian relationship a character strikes up on 90210 in the new year will not be for the purposes of a short-lived ratings grab.
