Five years after the famous coming-out episode brought her into the national spotlight, Ellen DeGeneres is still the undisputed queen of lesbian icons. The unassuming funny girl from New Orleans has starred in two eponymous sitcoms, graced the cover of Time magazine, and came out at the height of her popularity. For this we will always love her. But she insists she's not a spokesperson. Said Ellen, "We're individuals. ... It's like saying Joey Buttafuoco represents the heterosexual population."
After her lesbian-poster-couple relationship with Anne Heche very publicly came undone, Ellen started dating nonblonde bombshell Alexandra Hedison. What looked like a rebound romance has apparently had more staying power than many expected it to. Maybe that's because the couple has insisted on keeping their relationship out of the public eye.
Ellen herself, however, is certainly not out of the public eye. With the success "Finding Nemo," her hilarious HBO special and her promising talk show, Ellen is hotter than ever.
