Sting Hates Simon Cowell Shows

74478897 What's the male equivalent of a catfight? Dog brawl?

Whatever it is, two big-time music men have entered into one, trading barbs in the British press. Legendary rock star and tantric sex proponent Sting weighed in on the U.K. reality series/recording-star-generating superhit helmed by Simon Cowell, The X Factor.

Sting told the London Evening Standard he found the U.K.'s American Idol counterpart "appalling. ... It's a preposterous show, and you have judges who have no recognizable talent apart from self-promotion."

Adam Lambert's Back on the Market

87887620 Adam Lambert has split with his boyfriend, Drake LaBry, but good friend and fellow American Idol alum Kris Allen assured E! online the out rock star is "doing good... He's obviously not completely happy about it, but I think it was just something that needed to happen."

Lambert was ultimately runner-up to Allen when the two competed, but Allen insists they maintain a close friendship. “We see each other every once in a while and we text all the time," Allen said.

Though he maintains their competitive days are long behind them, the two will at least be competing on the charts with their respective debuts: Allen's self-titled album will be released November 17, just one week ahead of Lambert's anticipated debut, For Your Entertainment, on November 23.

Recent rumors say the creative Lambert also has acting ambitions, with Entertainment Weekly suggesting he'd be an inspired addition to Burlesque, starring Christina Aguilera and Cher.

Tegan Spills to SheWired

84207848 One half of the sublime sister set that is Tegan and Sara spilled all about the band’s new album, Sainthood, reading reviews, and courting commercial success. With 10 years behind them and new material that exceeds loyal fans’ expectations, T&S are in a prime position to become a huge music act, one getting better with each progressive release. Take a look at a snippet of what lead singer Tegan shared with SheWired:

SW: With the first two shows out of the way, do you guys feel a little more confident to play your new material?

Tegan: "Definitely. I’m always nervous for New York and L.A. It’s a big deal. There are a lot of record company people out. Sara and I have spent 99% of our career not worrying about press, journalists, and record companies, but when you play in New York and L.A. you can just abandon all of that—or you have to—because it is super important. I want the label to care. I want them to be behind the record, so I want them to be impressed by the live show. We have such an amazing, wonderful, intensely loving and devoted audience and there are lots of people in the media who are part of that audience.

Spice Girls, Again

78501034 Spice force five, er, make that four, is reuniting once again. The ‘90s girl-group pop phenomenon Spice Girls are getting back together for another gig, minus one notable member. Melanie Brown told British paper The Sun, "We're actually working on it right now."

A Gossip Girl Goes Pop

90712626 Leighton Meester has been quietly cultivating her music career while her Gossip Girl castmates make the hard climb from TV to film. Meester made a splash a while back with her guest vocals on Cobra Starship's catchy albeit borderline annoying, "Good Girls Go Bad."

Now Meester's got the first single from her forthcoming solo album ready for public consumption. The CW star hopes to have her full album in stores by the end of the year. The premiere of the breathy love song "Somebody to Love," featuring cute crooner Robin Thicke, can be heard here.

Suffice it to say, no earth-shattering new territory will be forged in pop by Messter's music. But still, the brunette wearer of the power headband has said she hoped her single was different from anything else on the radio.

George Michael’s a Lonely Stoner... Or Is He?

56436066 The British press reports singer George Michael's longtime partner, Kenny Goss, left him over the holidays last year. The press relates the the split is due to Michael's troubles with drugs -- specifically arrests for drug possession and his alleged marijuana abuse. The U.K.'s Pink News reports that a source claims, “Kenny had given George many chances. But after the Hampstead Heath incident [last year, in which Michael was arrested in a public restroom and charged with drug possession] he said he couldn't take any more. Kenny never agreed with George's urges to cruise for other men, or with his excessive use of cannabis.”

In response to the story, Michael's spokesman told Britain's Daily Mail, “There is no truth in the matter at all. ... Kenny has been away in Dallas, where he owns a gallery, but is scheduled to return home this Friday. They are planning a lovely weekend together."

Somebody is definitely lying here. If the former Wham! Front man is still struggling with drugs, hopefully he'll get help before it destroys his long-term relationship with Goss, who sought rehabilitation to combat his sleeping pill addiction in 2004.

Tell us: Do you think there's any truth behind the rumors, or are the tabloids telling lies about the singer?
