Gay TV All Weekend Long: 'White Collar' is White Hot

It's a fantastic fall weekend to relax and catch up on some quality time with your television. The weather outside may be getting frightful, but the gay-favorite shows are so delightful! Friday to Sunday, we've got your entertainment needs inexpensively covered. You need only flip on the telly to enjoy hot spy action on White Collar, the sublime sounds of the Pixies or Regina Spektor, wacky new late night from fabulously funny out Wanda Sykes, or a Scotty-centric episode of Brothers & Sisters. It's going to be one of the best weekends of gay TV in a while. Even if you've got plans, you may want to consider staying in. At the very least, set those DVR's!

Kick off the weekend with a lil' Ugly Betty love Friday night at 9 on ABC. This week Betty (America Ferrera) is feeling out of place after Daniel hires a new assistant and Matt has his own date to attend to. What happened to the episodes when everyone needed Betty to save the day?

In the same hour, Syfy's got another new episode of Stargate Universe. The team takes on a dangerous, high-risk plan that will hopefully allow all the crew on board the Destiny to find a way home. Eli (David Blue) and Chloe (Elyse Levesque) get to visit Earth in the intense episode.

Then at 10, check out USA's new series White Collar. The hot star, (maybe out?) actor Matthew Bomer, has crackling on-screen chemistry with both Peter Burke (Tim DeMay) and lesbian junior agent Diana (Lost's hot parachutist Marsha Thomason). This week they're on the case of a Mafioso's missing Bible. Seriously.

It's an excellent night to watch some late-night talk show TV. Catch Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show for sure at 11:35 p.m. on NBC. Not only is there a GLEEK alert as Glee's high-school hunk Cory Monteith is a guest, but the legendary Pixies will play as well. After that, on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, lesbian trailblazer Rosie O'Donnell will chat with the host, and gay favorite Ian Somerhalder (Lost, The Rules of Attraction, The Vampire Diaries) is also a guest. Meanwhile, over on CBS at 12:35 a.m., check out The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson for a little more Ewan McGregor (like there's ever enough of him) promoting The Men Who Stare at Goats before musical revolutionary Regina Spektor performs. The dynamo lent her beautiful song to the Courage Campaign for this clip:

Saturday night check out The Graham Norton Show on BBC America at 10. Norton has a fascinating chat with actor-jazz singer Harry Connick Jr. about starting his career at the age of 3 and recording his first song age 9. He also reveals one of his scariest performances of all time, singing for the legendary Frank Sinatra at his 75th birthday party. He recalls he was so nervous that he forgot the words to Sinatra’s songs in front of Frank and a roomful of esteemed performers.

Then at 11 support your girl Wanda Sykes when her self-titled late-night weekly show finally debuts; a first for an out American comedian. Her inaugural guests will be Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan, 24's Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Brothers' Daryl "Chill" Mitchell.

For the close of the weekend, spend Sunday funday with some of your favorite gay characters on TV. Check in with CBS at 8 p.m. for another rousing round of The Amazing Race. The competitors get explosive in Stockholm, and a trying challenge creates tension between our favorite gay brother duo, Sam and Dan.

Why not stop by Wisteria Lane while you're waiting for the Walker family? This Sunday's episode of Desperate Housewives, on ABC at 9 p.m., boasts a guest appearance by Veronica's Closet alumna Kathy Najimy. We don't know much about her role, but she does imprison Susan (Teri Hatcher) in a jail cell at some point. Can't hurt...

Then at 10, it's time for an all-new Brothers & Sisters. We can't wait to see the Scotty-centric episode.

Tell us: What weekend TV did you watch?

Comments

BEWARE of Matt "White Collar" Bomer". He was on a talk show recently and he kept saying he was "blessed". Are we really looking at a closet "Christian"? There are MANY, MANY attractive actors, etc. out there. Keep looking. Don't get hung up on Matt just YET!
