Gay TV on a Wednesday Night: The Best Night

Take the night off from trying to figure out what you'll be for Halloween (while Max from Where The Wild Things Are is guaranteed to be everywhere, you might consider a subtler, Levi Johnston low-maintenance costume route) and enjoy some good old-fashioned quality entertainment on the gay-favorite night of television. There are new episodes of Glee and Modern Family, and a Will & Grace alum returns to TV. Read all about the gay goodies on during prime time tonight from top to bottom. Then let Planet Out know what you thought about what you watched.

Start the night right with some old friends. At 8 p.m. on The New Adventures of Old Christine, our favorite funny girl, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, has a new therapist and it's none other than our old neurotic Will (of & Grace fame), Eric McCormack. He'll have a recurring role as their professional relationship develops into a romantic possibility.

At 9 the high-larious holy hour starts. We will not choose between our two 9 o'clock loves: Glee and Modern Family. Make sure to DVR/record one or the other. The kids in the Glee club get a break this week when the cool kids get knocked down a peg (slushie wars sound sticky!) and everyone's favorite villainous Cheerio coach, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), allegedly shows her softer side. Somehow, I don't think that will be how Sue 'C's it! Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" gets some cover love from Puck (Mark Salling) tonight on Fox.

Meanwhile on ABC, our favorite dysFUNctional, lovable bunch, Modern Family, tries to enjoy a barbecue, but those little mimics (a.k.a. the kids) get their parents in trouble. Manny just wants to know why Claire (Julie Bowen) would call Gloria (Sofia Vergara) a ”coal digger.” Get it? An awkward family gathering should leave our favorite character, Cameron (Eric Stonestreet), full of quick comments. We can hardly wait.

Also, attention all Law & Order: SVU buffs: Tonight's episode on NBC breaks new ground when one of the team member’s gayness comes out during the course of an investigation. Lesbians no doubt are holding their breaths in the faint hope it may be the beautiful and bold Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).

Then at 10 you can enjoy more of Glee creator Ryan Murphy's intellectual property with a new episode of Nip/Tuck on FX. The dark drama is delivering on all its anticipated downward spiral for the main characters in its final season. Things get increasingly complicated for Christian (Julian McMahon), and Sean (Dylan Walsh) is playing with danger in the form of drugs to cure his insomnia.

Tonight's Top Chef: Las Vegas challenge asks competitors for blind talent, as they each prepare one part of a mystery dish in a relay fashion, blindfolded all the while. As if that weren't bad enough, Robin and Michael get hot under their chef's hats and go at it. Watch the insults hurled in a taste of tonight's episode.

On the late-night end of TV, many of the hosts are on vacation this week, but check out a repeat of The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson to see the oddly alluring James Spader, or view the cutest hobbit, Elijah Wood, on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Tell us: What Wednesday show was the winner to you? How do you think Christian and Sean will fare at the end of Nip/Tuck?
