Gay TV on a Tuesday Night: George Takei and Hubby on ‘The Newlywed Game’

We've got what to watch when you're unwinding after a hard day of work or looking for work, which, let's be honest, is as taxing as any task these days. Tonight a classic game show makes history when Star Trek alum George Takei and his hubby appear on The Newlywed Game, and a fine foodie from Queer Eye returns with his challenging Chopped reality series on Food Network. It's a great night for a little gay TV, so take a look at what to tune in for this Tuesday night.

First make sure to see Trekker Takei and his husband, Brad Altman, become the first gay couple to compete on The Newlywed Game at 6 p.m. on the Game Show Network. The show has been testing spouses' knowledge of each other since 1967, but tonight new host Carnie Wilson will ask the “whoopee” question to a same-sex couple for the first time on this special celebrity episode. Takei and Altman have been together for over 22 years, but Altman says he still felt "we have to do our best and prove to the world we know each other intimately."

The usual prime-time tween soaps play on the CW, with a new 90210 at 8 o'clock. Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Kelly (Jennie Garth-- yay!) have to deal with the news that their AA mom has breast cancer. Probably regretting telling her she's dead to you now, eh, Silver? The cast is also promoting a charitable cause, raising money for the breast cancer research in recognition of the episode’s subject matter.

Tonight’s problem is all the yummy choices when 10 o'clock rolls around. While we're inclined to watch Jeff Lewis get his crazy, controlling whining out on Bravo's Flipping Out, we can't take the idea that he might finally drive his hilarious housekeeper, Zoila, away. Lewis seems headed to a very lonely life and a far less interesting cast if he keeps edging out all of his support staff. Here's a tribute to our beloved Zoila:

The same time slot has the return of a favorite from Queer Eye through Top Chef: Ted Allen hosts a new season of hungry young chefs willing to rise to his challenges on Food Network's Chopped. First up: The hopeful contestants tackle a kumquat appetizer challenge. Sounds fun!

Another fantastic food show that's got viewers hot and hungry is Oxygen's The Naughty Kitchen, also on at 10. Our favorite guy, Curtis, may get mad when newbie Emily fails to show for her shift. You can also check out cutie Curtis's candid pictures from the Kitchen here.

For the night owls, NBC is the ticket tonight. The unparalleled John C. Reilly, or "Mr. Cellophane" to Chicago fans, will be a guest on The Jay Leno Show. Those who stay up late might want to check in with Conan O'Brien on the new Tonight Show for laughs from Eddie Izzard and music from Flaming Lips. If you still can't sleep, Andy Samberg, who you may remember as an athletic gay guy in the bro-comedy I Love You, Man, will be hanging around Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and the best bad-girl British import in years, Lily Allen, shows her face on Last Call With Carson Daly.

Tell us: What Tuesday television will you be tuning in to?
